Places of Worship in the Mississippi Delta /Mound Bayou, Mississippi

moundbayou
There is something almost offensive about the churches in Mound Bayou. In a town that has been all black since its inception in the 19th Century, and miserably poor, the specter of dozens of churches, many of them lavishly appointed is hard to understand. This is a town where there isn't a supermarket or movie theatre, where corruption and poverty have been a way of life for decades. .
